Commitment Ceremonies
Love Commitment Ceremonies are a wonderful way to express your love for one another without a legally binding marriage. It has absolutely no legal standing in Australia and is not seen as a "marriage" of two people.
These ceremonies are a "bonding of love" between two people and also help to affirm the relationship in the eyes of the community. You declare your love and lifelong commitment to each other in front of your family and friends, or just have a simple, intimate ceremony for the two of you.
Anyone can have a Commitment Ceremony at any time, in any place. There are many reasons to have this type of ceremony and some are:
A couple who were legally married overseas and wish to have a ceremony in Australia with their family and friends, cannot have another Marriage Ceremony.
A couple not wishing to have a legally binding marriage, but wish to express their love and commitment for each other.
One partner in a relationship going for an extended period overseas for work or travel-and the couple would like to make a commitment bond between them.
