Fiancé Visa Application Procedures
A partner in Australia wishes to bring to Australia their partner from overseas on a Fiancé Visa, to get married here. The couple must lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage with the Celebrant, who will provide a letter to the Australia Embassy confirming receipt of the NIM. The Celebrant will give you a statement of fees and you pay a one off deposit of $150 and the NIM is valid until the marriage is solemnised. You will bring your partner to meet with the Celebrant as soon as they arrive in Australia.
There are 4 main types of relationship visas, depending on your circumstances and requirements.
Shortening of Time (for a wedding)
There are five categories of circumstances to apply for a shortening of time. These are:
Employment related or other travel commitments - a party to the marriage or involved in the wedding has employment commitments or other travel commitments.
Wedding or celebration arrangement - the binding nature of the wedding or celebration arrangements, or any religious consideration.
Medical reason - a party to the marriage or someone involved with the proposed wedding has a serious medical condition.
Legal proceeding - a party to the marriage is involved in a legal proceeding.
Error in giving notice - the Celebrant not giving the notice, the notice given was invalid, lost or stale and the wedding arrangements are to take place in less than 1 month.
Note: There is no guarantee that a shortening of time will be granted, so please call me with any queries.
